Notificación de Prácticas de Privacidad. (Notice of Privacy Practices en Español.)
The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires health plans and covered health care providers to develop and distribute a notice--the Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP)--that provides a clear, user-friendly explanation of individuals’ rights with respect to their personal health information and the privacy practices of health plans and health care providers. Access free privacy notice tools here.
Steri•Safe HIPAA Compliance Program Members rely on Stericycle for access to resources. Many providers seek templates to provide the Notice of Privacy Practices in English and Spanish to improve patient experience and understanding.
Stericycle is spreading the word about customizable, printable model NPPs developed by The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).
OCR and ONC have collaborated to provide Health Plans and Health Care Providers with model notices that can be customized by covered entities (doctors, dentists, hospitals and other health care providers) who maintain patient data.
These model NPPs reflect the regulatory changes of the Omnibus Rule (2013) and have been translated for distribution to Spanish-speaking patients.
You can provide a clear, user-friendly explanation of an individual’s rights with respect to personal health information in Spanish or English by simply downloading and customizing the NPPs provided here or on the HHS.gov website.
Easy to customize and print. Choose Full Page versions or Booklet Style.
For office display and distribution to patients, here are four of the most popular templates for Health Care Providers:
Be sure to review the Questions and Instructions document before personalizing these notices for your practice. And remember these foundational requirements for providing the Notice:
- A covered entity must make its notice available to any person who asks for it.
- A covered entity must prominently post and make available its notice on any web site it maintains that provides information about its customer services or benefits.
